It is now portrait season in New England. Consider spending an hour with the people you love the most in a gorgeous park near the Atlantic ocean. We simply come along and ask that you take a moment in the glorious New England light and document the love that is beaming off you. It's that simple. This moment in time. Captured. It's that surreal.
Had a great time getting to know the team that does such an incredible job caring for the Kotzchamar organ and creating new portraits for Adam MacDonald as he steps in as the new Executive Director of KOKO
Here is a great example of an accomplished graduate with the future just a few months away!
Portraiture has been with us since humans first painted on cave walls. With time the medium and technique of portraiture may have been altered, but our desire to commemorate our accomplishments remains strong. Graduation portrait is a tradition, a right of passage. We create these portraits to mark a moment of accomplishment. Marking the years of hard work, and the excitement of the future that lies ahead.
We created these senior portraits right on the beach just outside of Portland, Maine. Creating a portrait session near the ocean is the perfect spot to capture the freshness and vitality of a new graduate. The fresh breeze that comes off the ocean provides the symbolism of a new journey that lies ahead. Fresh wind, fresh hopes, and a fresh joy. The future is being captured at this exact moment and in this frame. The photography session began just before golden hour and we soon quickly experienced that warming light that floods the Maine coastline.
There is also a desire to share these special moments with our loved ones and offer an image that perfectly expresses who the graduate is and hopes to become. A visual representation that says, “this is me now”, graduating and ready for the next part of the path!

A classic look for a stormy afternoon on Eastern Promenade in Portland, Maine. We created a wonderful collection of portraits for this senior. Class of 2021 have had a very unusual year globally but their strength and resilience comes through these images like never before. This class has seen so much, gone through a lot, and are destined for good things ahead. Creating a graduates portrait marks the year of being catapulted into their future and we are so excited to document this time in their life.
Class of 2021! Congratulations! You are doing such a great job! Hang in there!
We want to celebrate you and all of your accomplishments by creating your senior portrait!
Creating a photography collection is a great way to commemorate this time in a students life. Portraits can define the moment, your last year of school, and the excitement for the road ahead.
For this particular portraits session we selected a cloudy afternoon on the Eastern Prom to capture as much natural light and glow from Casco Bay. The light comes in and creates such a nice ambient glow around the graduate. This photography session was probably one of my most favorite sessions that month.
My hope is to always provide a collection of images that the family will treasure forever.
Rí Rá Portland has a lot of history for me. During my first visit to Portland, Maine, we gathered with loved ones and enjoyed a lovely meal by the water. Over time it has grown to be one of our favorite spots and have often enjoyed a hearty meal and beer.
On my most recent visit, Rí Rá became one of our clients and we had the wonderful opportunity to photograph so many new menu items for Fall 2020. Here are a few images of that photography session.
We love working with restaurants right around the corner from our home here in Portland, Maine. The Old Port is the core foodie area of Portland, Maine and there really is something for everyone. Today, we chose Irish deliciousness! Rí Rá thank you again for making such heart warming meals! You help us survive through the cold winter.
Senior year is a pretty cool time of the year. There is a great enjoyment in giving my photographic skills to students who want to capture this time of their lives in a portrait session with me.
For this particular portrait we chose a perfect day in August on the beach and we are so fortunate to have the beautiful coast of Maine as our natural backdrop. This graduate and her loved ones met me at Crescent Beach and we had such a great time in the groves and the bright blue waters of the Atlantic.
One of the most important things I consider during the senior portrait photography session is the longevity of this moment. Everyone remembers their senior year and it’s important for the graduate and their loved ones to not only feel comfortable with me and my camera but to have a great time too. So as I photograph the graduates, lots of thought and care goes in before, during, and after the photography session. This consideration provides portraits that will be a remembrance of this time in their life and the accomplishments that have brought them here. I make sure to create the classic images that their family will enjoy, the trendy images that can be shared with friends now, and images that they will be proud to look back on 10 years from now.
Cheers to the class of 2021! You can do it!
