Sierra Leone 2011It’s taken a long time for me to post any images of that day. The 2011 medical screening was held at the national stadium in Freetown, Sierra Leone. It was not a successful day. It was not a good day. For those of us that were there and in the thick of it, the moments still haunt us, like bright flashes of light in a dark room. Permanently bright intolerable pops of moments in our mind, hitting us when we least expect it to happen.
I am in no way a medical professional, I am a photographer and photographed what I saw. In the midst of the unnecessary tragedies I witnessed a few heroes, my amazing friends, going above and beyond their training and abilities to try to bring life back to the community, literally. My deepest condolences everyday and forever to the local people of Sierra Leone who experienced this tragedy due to the failures of being unprepared, and inconsiderate to your needs. I am very sorry.
